This is something I had planned since long — a local mirror for openSUSE users. The only hiccup to it was finding a server & bandwidth sponsor. In fact, sponsorship is usually the struggle for open source projects and/or activities, in Mauritius.

The openSUSE Leap 15.4 Beta was released on 2 March 2022. Users can test the beta distribution to hunt and report bugs. The final release of Leap 15.4 is scheduled for 8 June 2022.

We did not have physical meetups for perhaps longer than a year. So, when Luboš told me that he is visiting Mauritius and will be glad to meet up local openSUSE, Linux & FOSS people, I was thrilled. Not to mention he'd bring some openSUSE goodies. 😊 I called up LUGM friends to make this happen.

GNOME 41 brings new features to improve the desktop experience on Linux. I tried it by running GNOME OS. Three-finger gestures and the new Multitasking panel are what I liked most.

The keyboard key combination of Ctrl + Shift + U allows special characters to be inserted in a text editor in GNOME. For example, Ctrl + Shift + U followed by 00e9 will produce é.
